About Old Hickory Lake

More than 22,000 acres of water, recreation, and Tennessee history.

Old Hickory Lake is a reservoir on the Cumberland River, approximately 25 miles upstream from Nashville. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built Old Hickory Lock and Dam between January 1952 and June 1954 and continues to operate the facilities.

The lake spans approximately 22,500 acres and 97.3 river miles across Davidson, Sumner, Wilson, Trousdale, and Smith counties. Its public facilities include 41 boat access sites, two Corps-operated campgrounds, seven large public marinas, one sailboat marina, and three private marinas.

Fishing, boating, jet skiing, sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming make Old Hickory one of Middle Tennessee’s most active outdoor destinations.

The Rubright family

We live, work, and play in the same places as our customers.

Rubright Marinas was formed in 2017 when Jim and Nate Rubright acquired Gallatin Marina. Ben Rubright joined as an owner when the family acquired Peninsula Marina. The family later added Barren River State Dock and Marina before purchasing The Boathouse at Benders Ferry in October 2020.

Customer satisfaction is the family’s highest priority. Safety and wellbeing are measured against the standards they expect for their own children, creating marinas where families can feel comfortable and have fun together.
